Hanoch Plesser from Shaked Darca Secondary School in the Valley of the Springs, was recently picked as one of the 100 outstanding teachers in the state religious school system’s Teachers of the Century Project.
Hanoch is a highly respected, veteran teacher who has been teaching at the school for a number of decades, educating many generations of students, instilling them with the love of Torah, the people, and the country.
During the past 10 years, Hanoch has held the position of Vice Principal, a role that makes him an active partner in the processes of school development.
Meanwhile, Hanoch has continually engaged in teaching Bible, taking every opportunity to go out into the world, making use of a well-stocked treasure-house of costumes from Kibbutz Sde Eliyahu, and staging local performances with topical allusions.
Hanoch believes in the value of connecting the students to work the land and teaming them up with people from the vicinity – kibbutzim and moshavim – offering them real help in their work, combined with intimate conversations to acquaint them with the story of their lives.
“Hanoch personifies a true ‘Talmid Chacham’ (wise student). On the one hand he brings a lifetime of wisdom and experience to his job, and on the other hand he is open to listen humbly and incorporate new ideas and programs,” said Boaz Schwartz, Principal of the school.
