On November 20, five 11th grade students of Diplomacy and International Communications in English from Darca Begin High School participated in a Model UN.
Debate for Peace, the Model UN sponsored by the American Embassy, Jerusalem Peacebuilders, and the City of Gainesville Florida took place at the American Center in Jerusalem and was attended by students from the cities of Sakhnin, Baqa Al Gharbiya, Modi’in, Tira, Givatayim, Yavne, Gan Yavne and Gedera. Mayor Lauren Poe, of Gainsville Florida presented Omer Sharir, and Oded Riftin (Darca Begin Gedera) Best Delegate awards.
Tomer Dovzhenko was further recognized for his outstanding debating and oratory skills, and was awarded a full scholarship by The Jerusalem Peacebuilders to a summer program at one of the three Jerusalem Peacebuilder camps in the United States.
Ilyse Ben Zagmi, the Diplomacy teacher at Darca Begin Gedera said:
