On Thursday 18 October 2012, the Honorable Mr. Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel, visited the Darca Druze High School for Science and Leadership in Kfar Yarka.
Also participating in the visit were Dr. Ass’ad Araidy, principal of the school; Dr. Ziad Daher the school’s Chairman of the Board; Sheikh Muwafaq Tarif, spiritual leader of the Israeli Druze community; community leaders; Lt. General. (Ret.) Gabi Ashkenazi, Chairman of the Rashi Foundation; Elie Elalouf, Vice President and Special Advisor to the Board of Rashi: Itzik Turgeman, incoming Director General of the Rashi Foundation; and Dr. Gil Pereg, Darca CEO.
During the visit, the President conversed with the participants, observed a scientific experiment conducted by students of the school, and answered students’ questions about peace, the position of the Druze community, and the status of teenagers.
The President was pleased by the students’ meaningful questions, and pronounced that he sees in them the faces of peace.
The visit concluded with the holiday greeting – “Kullu am wa antum bi-khair” (May you be well throughout the year).
